Because serving high-quality water is our business, Suburban Water adheres to stringent water quality testing and monitoring requirements to ensure that every drop of the water delivered to your home or business meets state and federal health and safety standards. We have backed our commitment of maintaining high water quality standards by dedicating the necessary human and technological resources to quality assurance programs.

We have nine full-time employees in the quality assurance department whose primary function is to ensure the safety, quality and reliability of your water. These water quality technicians are all state and industry certified in water quality control procedures and operations. Collectively, they hold 30 state and water industry certifications.

This team takes approximately 9,000 water samples a year, testing more than 100 constituents from wells, reservoir distribution systems and residences each year to safeguard the quality of your tap water. These samples are tested by independent, state-certified laboratories, where they are analyzed as mandated by law. Every year, we publish the results of our water testing program in our annual water quality report.

How We Do It

  • Our team of state-certified water quality professionals collects thousands of water samples a year from water supply sources that serve your home or business.
  • All samples are analyzed by independent, state-certified laboratories to ensure that all quality and safety standards are met.
  • These laboratories report the water test samples to the CDPH.
  • An analysis of these water test results is reported in Suburban Water’s Annual Water Quality Report.
  • Customers must be notified by Suburban Water if water test samples exceed the maximum contaminant level for constituents that pose a public health risk.
  • The CDPH and the EPA regulate water quality at Suburban Water, and Suburban Water complies with all water quality standards established by these agencies.
