South Carolina Water Utilities is making critical investments to upgrade your local water and wastewater systems to benefit customers.
Last year, South Carolina Water Utilities invested about $5.6 million into its local systems for capital improvements. This year, approximately $9 million of investment is being made to continue to provide safe and reliable service.
While water and wastewater systems often go unnoticed, they deliver life-sustaining and public health support every single day. It is imperative to continuously invest in systems, many of which are aging, to avoid crisis situations like we’ve seen in communities where infrastructure needs are ignored. At South Carolina Water Utilities, we work hard to upgrade our local facilities and systems so our customers can trust the service we deliver now and in the future.
Examples of these projects include, among many others, the following:
- Installing over 2.5 miles of wastewater main for sustainability and reliability of service.
- Replacing two wastewater treatment plants that reached the end of their useful life.
- Rehabilitating pump stations to support reliability and flow capacity.
- Installing smart metering to support accurate and timely water usage data.
