South Carolina Water Utilities and Palmetto Utilities helped renovate a home for a West Columbia woman through Home Works of America. In an all-day project, they built a new exterior fence, repaired kitchen plumbing, replaced a faucet, installed a new exterior back door and window, worked on exterior siding, and completed other various painting needs.
Tim Thornton (field supervisor – engineering), who led the project, said, “It was a great opportunity to get together with some of the team you might not work with every day and help someone in need in our community.”
Madelyn Smith of Home Works said, “A huge thank you to you and your team for the incredible work and time put in last Thursday. Heard nothing but good things, and [our homeowner] is in a much better home environment thanks to all the hard work.”
Home Works is a nonprofit organization providing home repair services to low-income homeowners while mentoring and teaching youth in the process.
