Alabama Water Utilities put together summer backpacks for children at Big Brothers Big Sisters in Shelby County.
The team in Birmingham volunteered to help pack these backpacks purchased by Alabama Water Utilities. Wastewater and water cycle educational coloring books, crayons, markers, chalk, puzzle books, flash cards, ear buds, mini Rubik’s cubes, and small puzzles and games were donated by the employees.
“The team had such a fun time collecting and packaging all these items and creating these gifts so kids in the Shelby County can make the best of their upcoming summer,” said Craig Sorensen, President of Alabama Water Utilities. “It is so rewarding to help put a smile on the face of a child!”
At the end,125 backpacks were completed in total; ready for any kid from the age of 5-12 to enjoy these fun-filled bags.
