South Carolina Water Utilities President Craig Sorensen was named to South Carolina’s WaterSC Working Group—a committee established by Governor Henry McMaster to help shape public policy involving the state’s most valuable natural resource: water.
This group is tasked with defining economic, social, and environmentally friendly approaches to water management. Governor Henry McMaster created WaterSC Executive Order No. 2024-22 in September 2024, intending for WaterSC to “collaboratively guide policy and planning for our state’s water resources.”
In her letter inviting Sorensen to participate, Department of Environmental Services Interim Director Myra Reece stated, “The road to success for WaterSC begins with an engaged, well-qualified team who agree to work together to ensure the reliability, resiliency, sustainability, and sufficiency of the State’s water resources.”
Sorensen is honored to serve in this role and to bring his lifetime of experience in water and wastewater service. He will represent our customers and private, regulated water utilities.
