On August 14, 2024, Texas Water Utilities and Make-A-Wish Gulf Coast and Louisiana celebrated 12-year-old Amelya with a New York City-themed send off party.
A Spring, Texas local battling a blood disorder, Amelya has always had a dream of traveling the world, and her trip to New York City brought her one step closer.
At the send-off party, Melissa Rich, vice president of operations at Texas Water Utilities, presented Amelya with a basket full of her favorite things, including an NYC coloring book, travel jewelry case, snacks and a framed illustration of New York City that was signed by employees.
During her trip, Amelya and her family indulged in New York-style cuisine, explored Times Square, took in views from Top of the Rock and experienced the excitement of riding the subway.
